The 14th Five Years Development Plan of ICT Industry was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Nov 16, in which requests to further perfect the application environment of Chinese domain names as well as its applications in different scenarios.

At the beginning of year 2020, the Internet Society of China (ISC) took the lead in organizing domestic major Internet application service providers, domain names Registries and Registrars, industry associations, research institutions jointly to promote the basic Internet application support to Chinese domain names. 

Through outreach with Tencent, Netease, Baidu, Sogou and relevant Internet companies, issue the "Chinese Domain Name Universal Acceptance Test Report on Browser", launch of special training on Chinese IDN UA Readyness, etc., ISC hopes to promote and encourage various Internet applications to fully support the identification, display and resolution of Chinese domain names. 

Ms. Pei Wei, Deputy Secretary-general of ISC, who is leading the campaign, said that as the industry organization, ISC has always regarded the promotion of Chinese domain names as an important task. The release of “14th Five Years Plan” marks the direction for further promoting the development of Chinese domain names. It is hoped that the majority of industry enterprises could actively support to and implement the plan, and continue to promote the application and sustainable development of Chinese domain names.
