From November 19 to 22, The 2024 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit opened in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province. With the theme of "Embracing a People-centered and AI-for-good Digital Future – Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace." 

The winners of the newly established WIC Distinguished Contribution Award had been announced at the opening ceremony. The award honors individuals and enterprises for their exceptional contributions to the global Internet sector. 7 individuals and 14 enterprises were recognized on Wednesday for their remarkable achievements in driving innovation and shaping the digital future. 

Academician Hu Qiheng, the Founding President of the Internet Society of China (ISC), and Academician Wu Hequan, the Second term of President of ISC, were both honored with the 2024 WIC Distinguished Contribution Award (Individual).
