China's Information Accessibility Charity Action Kicked Off

On December 21, 2017, the Internet Society of China (ISC) launched the China Information Accessibility Charity Action and the Information Accessibility Committee of ISC was set up at the launch ceremony in Beijing. Representatives from over 50 member units and relevant research institutions, enterprises and media attended the conference.
The charity action aims to actively carry out the construction of China's information accessibility public service system, and build an information accessibility service platform through using of the Internet, comprehensively improve information access service capabilities, speed up the construction of exchange environment of the information accessibility, and keep a sustainable development.
Marielza Oliveira, representative of the UNESCO office in China, said in her remark that UNESCO has long been committed to promoting universal access to information and knowledge through ICT and assistive technologies so that the disabled group can benefit equally as others.
ISC is one of the pioneer organizations to carry out information accessibility work. Since 2004, the ISC has done a lot of work in the popularization and construction of information accessibility, not only actively participated in the international accessibility of information accessibility, but also promoted the achievements of China's information accessibility development in various international forums, such as the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum. In June 2017, the International Telecommunication Union awarded ISC "China's Government Information Accessibility Service System" of 2017 WSIS Awards.
