The Personal Information Protection Committee of ISC Set up in Beijing

The inaugurating meeting of Personal Information Protection Committee of the Internet Society of China (ISC) was held in Beijing on Jan 22, 2017. Over 100 participants from governments, universities, scientific organizations, medias, telecommunications and Internet companies attended the meeting.
The meeting examined and adopted the Working Rules of the Personal Information Protection Committee of ISC and the Election Method of the First Leadership Bodies of the Personal Information Protection Committee of ISC. There were 1 chairman, 13 vice-chairmen, 1 secretary-general, and 3 deputy secretary-generals elected at the meeting. Zhou Hanhua, researcher from Institute of Law of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, was elected as chairman of the committee.
At the meeting, participants discussed topics including protection of personal information and development of big data industry, support of industry supervision, self-discipline and public oversight of personal information protection, and enhancing industry exchanges and raising awareness of personal information protection, etc.
The first session of membership of the committee consisted of ISPs, mobile social service providers, e-commerce, search engines, and terminal producers, etc.
