The Chinese Domain Names Initiative (CDNI) of the ISC held a workshop to discuss and finalized the Test Report on Browsers Supporting Chinese Domain Names on April 19.

The Report aimed to take a random test of browsers on supporting Chinese IDN, involving brands as Chrome, Edge, IE11, 360 Browser, QQ Browser, Firefox, Safari, Sogou Browser etc. The report shows: browser to support Chinese domain names has gradually increased in recent years in China, and application service providers have continuously rasied their awareness of the importance of Chinese domain names; though the resolution of Chinese domain names could be realized, there are some UA readiness functions needs to be further improved, for example, the IDN info display of browser’s address bar; domestic browsers’ support to Chinese IDN still exist a certain gap compared to the foreign brands; mobile browsers’ support of Chinese IDN is better than PC browsers.
